King Faisal of Saudi Arabia, commonly known as Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was the country's third ruler, reigning from 1964 until 1975. He was a member of the Saudi royal family and the eldest son of King Abdulaziz, the modern Saudi state's founder.

Following the death of his brother, King Saud, in 1964, King Faisal ascended to the throne. During his rule, he prioritized modernization, education, and economic development. He also strove to develop relations with other countries and was instrumental in establishing the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

King Faisal was known in Saudi Arabia for his progressive initiatives that promoted modernization and education. He was also an important figure in the Arab world, resolving conflicts between countries and supporting Arab unity.

King Faisal's reign, however, was not without controversy. He was recognized for his staunch commitment to Saudi Arabia's traditional customs and beliefs, which caused friction with the country's more liberal and progressive components. He also had to deal with increased oil costs as a result of OPEC countries' oil embargo, which caused some economic difficulties.

Despite these difficulties, King Faisal's reign is seen as a time of great growth and modernization in Saudi Arabia.  He was a well-known figure in the Arab world, and his death in 1975 was widely mourned.
